Next season, the team takes up residence at the Hill Dickenson Stadium at Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock, a brand new 52,000-seat stadium which is, incidentally, equipped with a NEXO sound system installed by T.G.Baker Sound (Ltd).

Taking place immediately after the 2-0 Premier League win over Southampton, the ceremony featured current players and Everton legends, along with live music and specially curated big-screen content, all hosted by award-winning television presenter Gethin Jones and former world champion boxer Tony Bellew.

For a veteran of many events, this one was particularly special for MSP Global founder and MD Colin Reader. “We have a 25-year association with Everton and have been privileged to assist with many events at Goodison Park over the years, but this one is obviously the most poignant.

“It was also probably the most challenging, with just 15 minutes available for us to equip 3 stages, wheeling on a total of 16 stacks of GEOM10/MSUB15 and GEOM12/MSUB18, powered by 10 x NXAMPMk2s with NEXO P12s for monitors.

“In all 120 people were involved in the set-up which was ready right on time.”

The emotional departure from Goodison Park serves as a reminder of the rich history and traditions that define Everton Football Club. As the team moves forward, guided by the spirit of the stadium known affectionately as the Grand Old Lady, the future holds promise and excitement for what lies ahead.

NEXO AMPLIFIES THE ACTION AT AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF SPORT ARENA https://www.nexo-sa.com/nexo-amplifies-the-action-at-australian-institute-of-sport-arena/?lang=fr https://www.nexo-sa.com/nexo-amplifies-the-action-at-australian-institute-of-sport-arena/?lang=fr#respond Tue, 27 May 2025 14:30:04 +0000 https://www.nexo-sa.com/nexo-amplifies-the-action-at-australian-institute-of-sport-arena/ Continue reading "NEXO AMPLIFIES THE ACTION AT AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF SPORT ARENA"]]> For over four decades, Canberra’s AIS Arena has been a fundamental part of Australia’s sports and entertainment landscape. Built in 1981 as part of a government initiative founding the Australian Institute of Sport, the Arena is a multi-purpose indoor facility and was originally known as the ‘National Indoor Sports Centre’. Often referred to as ‘the strategic heart of high performance sport in Australia,’ AIS Arena takes pride of place within the institute’s 66-hectare headquarters.

With a total capacity of 6,000, the AIS Arena hosts a myriad of sport, entertainment and community events each year. Following extensive renovations in 2023, the venue recently re-opened its doors to the public, equipped with enhanced facilities and modernized features.

Among the upgrades were new LED screens, digital signage, scoreboards, and PA system, which were installed by Audio Visual Integration specialists Diversified. Solutions from NEXO’s P+ Series were chosen for the system, including 40 x P12 loudspeakers and 12 x L18 subwoofers. Powered by 9 x NEXO NXAMPMk2 TD Controllers for amplification and processing, the system is highly capable, excelling in both the speech reinforcement and dynamic music playback requirements of the venue.

Ben Wynn, Operations Manager (ACT) at Diversified, explains why the P+ Series was well-suited as the Arena’s primary sound system:

“The audio-visual component is essential in an arena like this- ensuring athletes, operators, and visitors receive perfect coverage and an unforgettable experience for all parties involved. The audio system within the venue needed to achieve a high level of speech intelligibility, along with high SPLs in all areas. This equates to a clear and crisp sound in all areas of the arena. Diversified chose NEXO because we knew we could get these results. The P+ Series was perfect for this system.”

As is common with projects of this scope, tailored adjustments were essential in maximising the system’s efficiency. This process included precise installation and verification against all necessary performance standards, including specialised mounting solutions, as Ben describes:

“Diversified worked closely with Group Technologies to design and engineer custom brackets to deploy the P+ Series across the Arena roof. The NEXO system’s compact design, ease of rigging, and weight made deployment of the system exceptionally easy.”

“A venue of this nature, ultimately, is a large concrete box [and this] presents inherent acoustic challenges,” explains Jared Gill from WSP, who were pivotal AV consultants on the project. “In order to deal with such challenges, we worked with Group Technologies to undertake acoustic modelling, to ultimately ensure that the performance of the loudspeaker solution was to the standard required of such a venue. This enabled Diversified, in deploying the system, to get the optimal performance out of the solution.”

Roy Cressey, Director of ElectroAcoustic, worked alongside the Diversified team during the commissioning period to ensure that the NEXO system was calibrated for optimal results. The French-engineered loudspeakers have historically been a trusted solution for venues in line with the scale and demands of the AIS Arena, frequently chosen for their compelling balance of physical footprint, weight, and crucially, their pristine sonic performance, as Roy notes:

“The results were impressive- the distributed NEXO P12 system gave effective coverage to all the audience areas, and the voicing of the P12 was very well-suited to this application. The L18 subwoofers provided the required bandwidth for the dynamic musical requirements.”

With the Arena now once again open to events, Michael Singh, AIS Arena Project Manager at the Australian Sports Commission, sums up the results achieved by the venue upgrade initiative: “We’re really pleased with the outcomes that we’ve received from the refurbishment program, part of [which] was to enhance our lighting and our audio-visual capabilities- which overall enhances the customer experience. The sound system that has been installed as part of the arena project is significantly more advanced to what was here previously. The feedback that we’ve received from athletes and entertainers that have used the space has been very complimentary of the lighting and visual enhancements that have been installed into the arena.”

“The arena has only been in operation for a few months, and we’ve already received positive feedback [regarding] ease of operation, audio coverage and user experience,” notes Ben. “Here at the AIS Arena, the future looks bright. It was a great project to work on and all parties brought their A-game.”

Opening in February at Sydney’s iconic Capitol Theatre, Dead Puppet’s latest production is a new version of the five-time Tony Award-winning Broadway hit ‘Peter and the Startcatcher’.

For this much-loved musical, Dead Puppet’s Creative Director David Morton and the team engaged the services of Gold Coast-based sound, light and production technology specialists Captivate AV to design and deploy a sound system that would ensure audiences enjoy the full experience of the show’s ambitious sound design.

“The Capitol Theatre is a 2000 seat venue with stalls and a dress circle level” reports  Captivate AV Audio Engineer Isaac Ogilvie.

“Being a shell venue means that we needed to bring in all of the speakers required to put on the show. In a large venue like this speaker cohesion is so important so, from the front field to the main hangs to the delay speakers, we knew that we wanted one manufacturer to cover the lot. For this production, we’re using an entirely NEXO rig.

“We’ve got NEXO GEO M12 for upper left and right and lower left and right coupled with MSUB18 subs. We’ve got NEXO P18s running infill left and right and double stacked L20s running subfield left and right, then NEXO P8s for our singular delay ring under the balcony.

“We also have a fleet of NEXO ID14s and ID24s providing a surround sound experience for the audience both in the stalls and in the balcony” continues Isaac.

“We had no doubt that GEO M12 was the box of choice for this venue. Running active we knew that we were going to have the coverage we needed horizontally and coupled vertically to cover the room from the front row to the very back. Running the box in active mode gives us the ability control the crossover at the amplifier rather than inside the box.”

Taking up the story for Dead Puppet Society, David says; “One of the things that this version of the production does that’s not like others that have come before is we take that sort of actor and musician-driven playfulness on stage to build the story in the minds of the audience.

“Then working with our creative and technical team we make that a physical reality in the theatre. So, we might imagine Tinkerbell as a tiny glowing light that then becomes this fully articulated puppet.

“The same is true of the sound world where we get these Foley instrumentations that set us in the depths of the jungle but then the work of Matt Erskine our sound designer suddenly wraps around us in the theatre using the surround system, so we actually feel like we’re sitting in the middle of a tropical rainforest.

“You’re sort of unsure where it begins and ends, but you just realise at some point that you’re actually inhabiting the same place in the story as the characters we’re following on the journey.”

“When designing a speaker system for a theatre show there are three things that we’re primarily concerned about: coverage, image and tone” comments Isaac, returning to the subject of the sound system.

“When choosing the surround package for this venue, we knew the NEXO ID series was going to be perfect for this room. We needed a lightweight, small profile box that was still going to have the punch necessary to cover in the room.

“In this room we’re using flown MSUB18s coupled with the M12 to provide some low frequency extension and the L20s on the forestage are designed for sound effect and special effect purposes.

“The P18s on the forestage are being used to bring the image down a little so that we can locate the performer’s voice from the stage and the front fill also contributes to that whilst also providing some high frequency clarity for the audience sitting in those front few rows.

“The M12 centre cluster helps to bring the image in and allows the actor’s voice to be centrally located. In the back of the stalls, we have a ring of NEXO P8s which are providing some vocal clarity to those sitting in the back few rows.

“This is the first time a GEO M12 system has been flown in this venue, and we have been blown away by the results.

“Not only is NEXO the speaker of choice for those watching the show but we’re also using some NEXO speakers on stage too. We’ve got a series of P8s flown in pairs for cast foldback and two ID24s flown for onstage special effects.”

Isaac is equally complimentary about NEXO’s NeMo remote control and system monitoring app.

“With a system of this size it wouldn’t be possible to control all of that information without using some sort of control software and we have been very, very happy with NEXO’s NeMo control interface. This has allowed us to talk to each amplifier individually and then create zones across each cluster of speakers.

“Matt couldn’t be happier with the system and package that we provided and is very much looking forward to using this system again.”

Located at the former Hacienda La Trinidad (one of the oldest in the Venezuela), it covers 15,000 square metres including historic buildings and gardens, hosting exhibitions and cultural events with the seven original cacao drying rooms now home to a range of specialist facilities and shops including La Discotienda, a very special record shop,  gallery and performance space.

Described as a cultural space built around vinyl, visitors are invited to explore the unique world of the vinyl record, with its warm analogue sound and evocative cover art.

Regular live performances take place in the venue which, although small, ensures artists and audience alike enjoy pristine sound quality, courtesy of an ultra-compact NEXO system featuring pairs of ID14 speakers pole-mounted on IDS108 subs with NEXO PS8s for monitors.

Supplemented by a single IDS110 sub, additional ID14s are wall-mounted for vinyl playback with each system powered by NEXO’s similarly compact nanoNXAMP4.

“The performance of the ID14 with a live band is surprisingly impressive for such a tiny speaker” reports Valeska Gruber from Sun Pro Music, suppliers of the NEXO system at La Discotienda. “Space is at a premium here so a sound system that takes up hardly any room without sacrificing sound quality really helps.”

Come nightfall, Shisantang LiveShow is the destination for after work relaxation and for clubbers to enjoy a varied program of indie rock and electronic music in a vibrant, neon-lit venue, all powered by a stunning NEXO sound system installed by Hertz Audio.

For a space in which a line array might have seemed most appropriate, the sheer power of NEXO’s P18 point source loudspeaker makes it the FOH solution of choice at Shisantang LiveShow, partnered with NEXO L18 subs. Four clusters of P18/L18 cover the main audience area in front of the stage with NEXO PS10R2s filling in the front rows.

More P18s cover the mid-section of the audience while smaller NEXO P15s extend coverage at the back. Additional NEXO RS18 and L20 subs complete a system that makes a big impact, ensuring a party atmosphere and helping Shisantang LiveShow to build a reputation as one of the best clubs in Guangzhou.

An exciting synergy of sleek good looks and stunning performance, P8, P10, P12, P15 and P18  cabinets employ custom HF/LF drivers in a coaxial configuration to deliver perfect phase alignment, exceptional clarity and a smooth response across the full frequency range.

“The NEXO P+ cabinets are very powerful and compact and the facility to vary HF coverage by changing the horns means we can achieve uniform coverage, even in complex spaces” reports Hertz Group founder and Managing Director Mr Adong. “Shisantang LiveShow is another successful NEXO club installation for Hertz Audio in China.”

The Duisburg-born comedian, podcaster and television presenter has just finished an arena tour taking in cities including Stuttgart, Hannover, Köln, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Nuremberg, travelling with a NEXO STM sound system deployed by Paderborn-based event production specialists Sound Linear.

“For the main PA we used 6 x STM M46 Main and 12 x STM M28 Omni line array boxes maximum, plus up to 9 x NEXO GEO M10s per side as out fills” reports Sound Linear Event Technology Specialist Philipp ‘Flip’ Bock. “A total of 12 x STM S118 subs were absolutely sufficient even for the larger arenas and we used up to 12 of NEXO’s compact ID24s on the edge of the stage and a NEXO P12 in each corner as near fills.”

For stage monitoring, 4 x NEXO P12s with 60° x 60° horns completed an all-NEXO system with amplification and processing from NEXO NXAMP4X4 Powered TD Controllers.

“Trucking with NEXO equipment is easy as can be” continues Flip. “We used single dollies and dolly roofs from NEXO, which made it really easy to load in and out and put more cases on top.

“NEXO rigging is the best I’ve seen so far. I was able to build the main PA single-handed within minutes. This line-up has everything we needed for a tour in venues for 6000 people and more. The necessary adjustments in the equalizer are minimal compared to other systems I’ve worked with.

“Overall, the system performed great! Just as expected.”

Such a varied program requires an installed sound system that can shift through the gears to handle any scale of show that comes to town, so venue operators contacted local AV technology and production services specialists Exton to propose a new sound system that would ensure fans of all musical genres enjoy top quality sound at every Bæjarbíó event.

“The venue had received a proposal for a system from another manufacturer but, after visiting and taking measurements, we were able to propose a NEXO system that would meet the performance criteria at a significantly lower cost” reports Exton Sound Consultant/Technician Asaf Tzur.

Left and right hangs of 3 x NEXO GEO M1210s plus a more steeply angled GEO M1220 are supplemented by super-compact NEXO ID24s as front fills in a system that originally featured a pair of NEXO RS18 subs.

“Listening to the system we felt that the LF angle dispersion could be improved” continues Asaf. “We contacted NEXO Engineering Support who were quickly on site and ultimately the RS18s were replaced with 4 x NEXO L18s in sub array configuration to achieve more consistent coverage of the venue.”

Although not part of the original brief, the cost-efficiency of the NEXO solution delivered an additional benefit at Bæjarbíó.

“We were able to supply 8 x NEXO P12s for stage monitoring within the budget, along with the corresponding NXAMP4X4Mk2 amplifiers” says Asaf in conclusion.

“So now audiences and performers alike experience world-class NEXO sound at Bæjarbíó.”

Covering a 960-acre site on the Yumeshima (Dream Island), more than 160 countries are showcasing their cultures, crafts, technologies and visions of the future in a series of exhibits that includes the extraordinary France Pavilion, designed and operated by official French exhibition organisers Cofrex. Ideally located at the entrance to the Expo, the visually striking venue is expected to welcome more than 20,000 visitors each day over the coming 6 months.

“If there were just one feeling associated with the French mindset, it would be love” believes French President Emmanuel Macron and it is a French vision of the world, a paean to love, boldness and dialogue, that he expects visitors to the France Pavilion will discover.

“The way we chose to embody the theme of love is through Pulsations, guided by music and a steady heartbeat in a journey through eight different art installations” reports visual artist and Artistic Director for the project Justine Emard who worked with international experience designers GSM Project to create a multi-sensory experience showcasing French creativity and excellence exemplified by sponsors including LVMH, AXA, LES VINS D’ALSACE and NINAPHARM, and the profound connection between France and Japan.

With music and sound central to an immersive visitor experience, specially composed music and sonic content developed by IRCAM, the French institute dedicated to the research of music and sound, is delivered by a system comprising more than 250 individual NEXO loudspeakers installed throughout the France Pavilion.

Compact GEO M line arrays cover the area in front of the Pavilion, while an ID14 LCR system is virtually invisible in the entry lobby.

Also visually discreet is the ID14 system in the first art installation featuring a stunning Aubusson tapestry by Hayao Miyazaki, then on up a walkway covered from above by 16 x NEXO ID14s delivering a unique wavefield synthesis by IRCAM composers.

Unique aural and visual experiences from AXA combine work by the musician Rone, the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj and the filmmaker Thierry De Mey, delivered by a hugely powerful ‘cinema style’ NEXO P18 system with L20 subs hidden behind the curved screen and complemented by ID14 and ID24 top and surround speakers.

Then it’s off to pay a vibrant tribute to Louis Vuitton’s savoir-faire in a room where 85 Wardrobe trunks surround the united hands of Rodin’s La Cathédrale with the characteristic rhythm of the mechanical murmur of the workshops reproduced by an entirely invisible series of NEXO ID14s.

In Dior’s space, compact ID14s are mounted on hidden brackets and finished in white to complement the stunning display of collections that create an ode to the virtuosity of the Parisian Ateliers.

NEXO’s ePS Outdoor speakers make perfect sense in a tranquil garden which is watered every day and features a 1000-year-old olive tree, before visitors head underground where NEXO P8s and L15 subs help to create the unique atmosphere in the cellars of the Alsace vineyards.

Resonant with the geography of Japan comes an archipelago made up 3 islands, the first showing the rebirth of Notre-Dame de Paris following the fire in 2019, the second featuring Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey which has benefited from a campaign to restore its island character and ecosystem and the last illustrating France and Japan’s fascination with the Pacific coral lands through the imaginary representation of two of them: Bora-Bora and Iriomote. Although each space has a very different soundtrack, NEXO ID and P+ Series systems help to maintain a consistent sonic signature promoting a fluid journey through the spaces.

Amplification and processing for the installation come from a total of 65 x NEXO Powered TD Controllers, drawn from both nanoNXAMP and NXAMPMk2 ranges.

“The sound quality is really good, it really covers all the spaces” reports Maxime Poirot, in charge of sound installation at the France Pavilion for Cofrex. “The speakers proved to be ‘plug and play’ in the sense that once the speaker is installed in in the space, it already sounds very good. There are really minimal adjustments required for the different locations as some reverberate more than others, but I find the quality really very good. And I received very good support from NEXO, even before my arrival on site.”

“We started working with Cofrex back in September last year, advising on the system design and performance modelling, then the network configuration, naming devices and setting IPs so the installers could arrive on-site with everything already prepared offline” says NEXO Engineering Support Director François Deffarges, taking up the story.

“The amplifiers and speakers were delivered on site in January by the supplier Loct’ambule, and the NEXO ES team has been on site since February 1st, assisting with installing speakers, cabling, building racks and so on.

“During the tuning stage the NEXO NeMo App was extremely helpful as we could work wirelessly in each zone to EQ the speakers as required. Then in the final stage before opening, we were able to assist with synchronising the spaces to ensure the consistency of the ‘beat’ that takes visitors on their journey through the Pavilion.

Speaking on behalf of Cofrex, Pavilion Director Philippe Mille says “This is a complex project requiring a very specific sound system. There are more than 240 channels with innumerable loudspeakers and multiple challenges, both because of the very high demands of the experience design and the installation constraints related to this very distinctive building.

“So, we were looking for a French technical service provider with a very high level of skills. We reached out to a couple of manufacturers and NEXO immediately responded and met the demand, and has supported us very well in the development and engineering stages, in pre-production and then in production, and on-site with the daily presence of their ‘in-house’ engineers who have not only guided us but were also extremely active during the installation period.”

Speaking in conclusion for NEXO, President Jean Mullor says “As a French company, manufacturing in France, we are proud that our products have been chosen to help represent to the world the best of French culture, craft and technology. And as part of the Yamaha group of companies, we are particularly proud that our speakers have been selected for this prestigious event in Japan, the home of Yamaha.”

Delivering maximum impact for an audience that was there to party, local production services company PVN Vy Phuong deployed their NEXO STM modular line array system, with left and right hangs of 9 x M46 Main and B112 Bass modules flown side by side with 2 x M28 down-fill boxes, and side fill arrays of 8 x M28s flown beneath 2 x S118 subs.

Referred to by PVN as its ‘Bass Monsters’, a row of S118 subs across the front of the stage ensured that the music was felt as much as heard. Amplification and processing for the full system came from racks of NEXO’s NXAMP Powered TD Controllers.

With over 10 years of experience in providing sound and lighting systems as well as AV solutions for professional events and projects, the team at PVN and their NEXO STM system is much valued by event organisers in Vietnam.

Hype fest is the latest in a string of STM-powered festivals in the country that includes Tuborg Why Not in March, and Strongbow Sparkling World which took place in Ho Chi Minh City.

Now this bustling Chinese city gets an exciting new attraction in the form of the T/Lake Club located in the picturesque Wujiang District.

With stunning views over Dongtai Lake, the modern architecture of the club sits perfectly in beautiful natural surroundings; while striking, industrial-style interiors are softened by warm lighting to create a sumptuous atmosphere.

As night falls, it’s all about the music with a party crowd enjoying top DJ sets delivered with breathtaking power and clarity by a NEXO GEOS12 line array sound system designed and installed by Guangzhou Hertz Audio Co., Ltd., a large-scale professional audio systems integrator and installer covering theatres, concert halls, TV studios, stadiums and convention centres, and with a particular focus on nightclubs and music venues.

“Our engineers accurately modelled the sound pressure distribution using NEXO NS-1 software to tailor the installation plan” reports Hertz Group founder and Managing Director Mr Adong. “The sound covers the whole audience evenly, whether it is the front row of the stage or the corner seat, you can enjoy consistent high-fidelity sound.

“And NEXO NXAMP amplifiers bring intelligent power control and sound management to ensure that the sound quality of each performance is consistent from rehearsal to closing.

“NEXO products deliver unrivalled power and coverage at a price point that really makes sense. T/Lake is the latest of many successful Hertz Audio NEXO installations in nightclubs in China”
